Psychology
Psychology
This subject will be new to most students. Psychology is a scientific based study of human behaviour and examines what motivates people to behave in the way they do. Year 1 During the first year of the course you will investigate a variety of psychological themes including:
- Cognitive Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Physiological Psychology
- Social Psychology
- and the Psychology of Individual Differences.
In addition you will carry out four specified practical activities, understand basic applications of research method as well as an appreciation of the importance of ethical considerations in Psychological Research. Year 2 In the second year of the course you will explore issues relating to the psychology of crime and health as well as completing a practical project in which you will carry out a simple investigation and produce a written assignment that relates psychology theory and evidence to a real life event. If you are considering this subject, you will need to have an investigative, enquiring mind and be prepared to read extensively and not be discouraged by independent research. It is suggested that students need good GCSE grades in English, Mathematics and Science to cope with the demands of Psychology. A qualification in Psychology is useful in its own right and is particularly useful for degrees in medicine and science. The course provides skills that are appropriate to most social sciences. This course is of great value for a career in Management or the public sector. Sound good?
