If you are somebody who is interested in the law and how the law works to promote justice then this course will be of interest to you.
Year 1
In Year 1 of the course you will investigate the English legal system, which includes examining the courts, police powers, the legal profession and the penal system. In addition you will spend some time looking at the sources of law, e.g. how EU law can impact upon UK law.
Year 2
In Year 2 we focus on criminal law, exploring the principles of criminal liability, murder, manslaughter, theft and other offences against the person. Students do not need any prior knowledge of the subject, but it is recommended that students have attained GCSE grade C in English. Law GCE A level can lead to a wide range of university courses. As well as Law itself it would be beneficial for Business, Government and Politics, Criminology, Social Sciences and can be combined with other disciplines e.g. Media or Psychology.
